There are lots of different answers to your question. The people close to D.C. tend to be a bit snooty and perhaps more impressed with themselves than warranted. The Marylanders around Annapolis are water people who love the Bay and are wrapped up in the history of this lovely suburb. Baltimore residents are down-to-earth, fun and full of homespun humor. Across the Bay the people of the Eastern Shore are tough, warm hearted and sturdy.

There are some rough areas, too, mostly in Prince Georges County (sorry, PG, but it's true). Northern Maryland is rolling, green horse pastures, Western Maryland is lakes and ski slopes, the shore of Eastern Maryland is ocean and bay oriented, southern Maryland is also water-oriented and many of the Smith Islanders speak a dialect that harks back of old English.

We're a richly ethnic area of people who are diverse, entertaining, talented and artistic, hard working, faithful and strong. Welcome!

What city/county in MD? I am in PG but very close to Montgomery County-so not any where near the ghetto areas of PG.

People in Maryland are the same as people elsewhere. Some are very nice, some aren't. People are the same everywhere.

Yes us Marylanders are very nice..(i live here) you dont have to worry about a thing when it comes to the people down here. Everyone minds their own business and moves on with life.

Depends on what part of Maryland.

I agree that the MD folks are pretty straight forward. The VA people are a bit stuck-up.

But I have to tell you, I would rather live in VA than MD. I've seen more crime and high speed police chases in Maryland than I have in any other state.

Have fun sitting in traffic. I chose to go to a college in PA instead of D.C. because of the traffic conditions towards southern maryland. I would sit in traffic on 270 for like over an hour just to go 20 miles. The people there are normal I guess.

We're straightforward, and if you don't like the weather (especially in the summer) just wait 10 minutes.

As your future president I want to personally welcome you to the Old Line State. Here are some websites that will help you get a better understanding of the state and what it has to offer.

They are very straightforward and tell things to you as they are. They aren't usually fake and phony.
