There are lots of different answers to your question. The people close to D.C. tend to be a bit snooty and perhaps more impressed with themselves than warranted. The Marylanders around Annapolis are water people who love the Bay and are wrapped up in the history of this lovely suburb. Baltimore residents are down-to-earth, fun and full of homespun humor. Across the Bay the people of the Eastern Shore are tough, warm hearted and sturdy.
There are some rough areas, too, mostly in Prince Georges County (sorry, PG, but it's true). Northern Maryland is rolling, green horse pastures, Western Maryland is lakes and ski slopes, the shore of Eastern Maryland is ocean and bay oriented, southern Maryland is also water-oriented and many of the Smith Islanders speak a dialect that harks back of old English.
We're a richly ethnic area of people who are diverse, entertaining, talented and artistic, hard working, faithful and strong. Welcome!
