Driving - take Baltimore/Washington Pkwy (295 S) and at the split bear right onto Rt 50 West into Washington, which turns into NY Ave. If you go left onto I-295 you will get lost trying to find downtown. Parking in downtown is a pain though, arrive early and avoid rush hour.

An option to avoid DC parking would be to park at Greenbelt or College Park Metro stations and take the metro into DC. But you'll need a SmartTrip card to pay for parking, which is $3.50/day. Weekends are free in most lots though.
