Good area to live in Maryland

Question

I am looking to live in a younger more trendy area to live in Maryland. I want to move to a place that is up and coming where their are convenient to shops and such. I am not necessarily looking for a house; I would love to live in a townhouse or condo that is convenient or even connected to stores. Bethesda and Georgetown is way to expensive, and Canton and Fells Point is too close to Baltimore. I really love Maple Leaf in Fulton but they are more family orientated and their townhouses are very expensive and they do not have any condos. Does any one know of any other area that is like these areas or up and coming geared more towards a younger crowd or artsy or trendy while not being extremely overpriced in Maryland?

Canton and Fells Point aren't close to Baltimore, they are both IN Baltimore. Georgetown is also in DC, not Maryland.



Anyway, about Maryland you are looking for Condos and townhouses that are close to shops but aren't overly expensive. But think about it, who wants to live in a condo or townhouse by shops that ARE overly expensive? That kind of puts you in the same boat as a lot of other people, especially nowadays with the economy the way it is.



I would have to say if you are looking for modern conveniences of having a condo nearby stores, those are most going to be located in the urban and suburban areas of Maryland such as Baltimore County, Howard County, Montgomery County, etc, where a good nucleus of MD's population lies. Not so ironically it's the stretch between Baltimore and DC, which is one of the largest metro areas in the US with a ton of tech and government jobs. Which means it might be generally more expensive to live here than say the Pittsburgh area.



A lot of people have started to drift out away from the DC suburban area as well as some from the Baltimore area having moved to places like Frederick, MD, and southern PA to find cheaper condos, housing, etc.



Honestly, if you are looking for trendy places, Fells Point and Canton probably top the list. You wouldn't hear about them if they where in high crime areas of Baltimore. Contrary to popular belief, not ALL of Baltimore is dangerous and most people into big time nightlife in MD find it in downtown Baltimore. But those areas probably aren't cheap either. All of Maryland is pretty much mapped out, there really isn't anyone up and coming place geared towards young people.



Just places that are gearing towards people wanting to move into new homes, apartments or condos that like most non-big city zip codes in the US, offer a mix of people of all ages. In that regard Maryland is no different than any other state. If you want cheaper, you might find that in the more rural parts of the state which may not be exactly what you are hoping for in regards to modern convience.

I'm originally from the DC suburbs in Maryland (actually near Bethesda) so I'm the most familiar with that area. Anyway, I would say if you want to be close to DC, then I would look into Silver Spring or Takoma Park, or even Rockville (all of which are more affordable than Bethesda or Georgetown). In central Maryland (between Baltimore and Washington), I would look at Columbia or Ellicot City... but that may be a bit "family oriented" as well.

maximum inexpensive place to stay is unquestionably Prince George's County, Maryland. even although that isn't any longer an extremely valuable place in any respect. it rather is rather useful to look into the far eastern element of Bernard Law Montgomery County, Maryland (like Wheaton or Silver Spring). may well be incredibly greater value-effective than Chevy Chase, Bethesda, and Rockville. Northern Virginia - Arlington and Alexandria are costly because of the fact they are rather great cities that are rather close to to DC. everywhere alongside highway 123 (McLean, Langley) or the Dulles Tollway (Reston, Sterling, Chantilly) is expensive. could learn out Manassas (valuable, yet far off from DC) or the Southwestern corner of the Beltway (like Annadale).

Annapolis. A lot of young people live here. Close to bars, restaurants, mall, and downtown shopping, and the water. Beautiful town. Pricier as you get closer to water...but you could find a nice apartment or townhouse that is closer to the mall and a 5 min cab right from downtown that is less expensive.

whats wrong with Baltimore? It seems pretty much exactly like what you want. Things are always happening there- it has a better music scene than DC- and there are lots of cool places. I love hagging out there.



Maybe i should move there.

Columbia is so cool,so is Silver Spring,Towson is nice,and B-more is fun with the baltimore club music scene ,and culture,and crime is going down.
