I was born in 1950 in Washington D.C. and all I know is that my father was in the air force so I think it was at a military hospital but I'm not positive. Both of my parents are now dead and I'm just curious to know a little more about myself. If anyone has any information on hospitals in that area during that time please let me know. Especially if it was a military hospital. Thanks

The two biggest hospitals were Walter Reed Army Hospital and Bethesda Naval Medical Center (just outside of DC). If the birth was at a military hospital, it was likely at one of those two. Walter Reed consolidated with Bethesda a few months ago, at the Bethesda campus. You can find their website by using google.

A major private hospital that specialized in baby delivery was Columbia Women's Hospital, which was in DC until it finally closed down about a decade ago.

If you can get a copy of your birth certificate, it should have the hospital on it.

Could this be of help----Dept of Health for Wash.DC, Vital Records Div? When I ordered a certified copy of my birth certif. (in the 1990's) you didn't have to know what hospital you were born in.

Two general hospitals that existed until the late 1950's were The Central Dispensary & Emergency and Garfield Memorial Hospital. Good luck w your search.
